“This ain’t your momma’s shampoo”

Greetings! Apologies for the time between posts. I’ve been flat out trying new products, knitting like a fiend, and of course, #mumlife.

In two weeks, I’ve knit up 3 cardigans and now working on a pair of socks. It’s a sickness. Beats doing drugs though!

But I digress.

There have been 4 new product releases in the past few weeks as well as a fresh, new Beauty Book.

One of the biggest releases has to be the technological breakthrough that is the HairCovery hair care system.

You’ve been looking after your skin, now it’s time to look after your hair.

The  HairCovery trio is:

  • Thickening and Volumizing Shampoo
  • Moisturizing and Shine Enhancing Conditioner
  • Strengthening and Thickening Hair Serum.

My hair, though short, is my crowning glory. I have obsessed over my hair for as long as I can remember.

I was lucky enough to score a sample of the products and tried it myself. Even though I have ridiculously thick and frizzy hair, I found it didn’t overload my hair at all.

Each product is lightweight and you only have to use a small amount of each, depending on your hair length. I used a 10 cent piece sized amount (or a dime for any Americans reading this) and found this was plenty for my short hair.

The scent of each product is divine, not overwhelming at all. It’s pleasant and fresh and even men will find this appealing.

As I mentioned, all three products are light and will not weigh your hair down. Even the conditioner.

I found that my hair dried smoother and faster than it ever has in the past. For me, this is massive. I was able to cut down on blow-drying and heat exposure to my hair. I even didn’t have to use my straightening iron as much as I usually do to smooth down my hair!

I cannot wait to use these products on both my daughter’s hair. They have unruly hair but different types of hair. My husband has “volunteered” to use HairCovery to improve the health of his scalp and hair.

Yes, HairCovery is safe to use on hair of all ages. And is safe to use on pre-treated hair, eg, chemically straightened hair.

So, why is it a breakthrough?

Your hair health starts at the root, so scalp health is vital. All products include SenePlex+ and SenePeptide to encourage a healthy scalp and voluminous, strong locks of hair. Additional volumizing ingredients and moisturizing botanicals boost shine, manageability, and thickness.

SCIENCE!

Let’s talk about:

Capixyl. It’s one of the key volumizing ingredients in each of the products and it’s comprised of a combination of ingredients which includes Red Clover extract. Capixyl improves the growth cycle of your hair by stimulating the hair follicle regeneration process to activate hair growth, as well as limiting hair loss at the follicle. It also works on enhancing your hair’s density for thicker, healthier hair. In a clinical study of Capixyl, participants experienced over 79% boost in the number of hair per square centimeters, after 4 months.

SenePlex Complex+ is the kinetic enzyme we all know and love that helps increase cellular renewal. In hair care, this helps to increase follicular activity.
SenePeptides help stimulate hair growth.

We’ve also developed and patented an ingredient to help control the sebum produced on the scalp. Defenscalp. A win for oily, dry, and flaky scalps everywhere!

The shampoo and conditioner provide proven UV colour protection for dyed hair, with Chromaveil, which for me is a huge bonus, as now I’m more inclined to dye my hair a bolder colour than dark brown.

HairCovery is:

  • Gluten-free
  • Animal by-product-free
  • Paraben-free
  • Phthalate-free
  • Sulfate-free

To use the shampoo, ensure your hair is saturated from root to tip with water and then apply the shampoo, massaging from root to ends. Rinsing thoroughly. Repeat only if necessary.
Tip: If you have a build up of products and silicones from previous hair products, a second shampoo will be necessary.

To use the conditioner, massage into wet hair from root to ends, leaving in for 3 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

To use the serum, apply a small amount directly to scalp on either wet or dry hair every 2-3 days. Do not rinse.

You can find the full list of ingredients and order here!

I can’t wait for y’all to use it, and of course, you have to take before and after pics and share them with me!

Kicking It Old School

It works. It actually, really works.

Shea Butter Body Cream

What am I talking about? Using Shea Butter Body Cream to remove makeup. Yes. It’s an old school method but it works!

I mentioned it previously how Joni, our founder and CEO, uses this method to remove her makeup. I was a little skeptical at first, especially about removing our very waterproof mascara. Boy, was I wrong!

It removes EVERYTHING. This is now my go to method of removing makeup. I need to invest in more wash cloths for wiping the cream off my face haha.

So, not only am I cleansing my face, I’m moisturising it and massaging it, too.

I place a hot, damp wash cloth on my face for a few seconds and then wipe gently. Rinse and repeat until the Shea Butter Body Cream has been removed.

My current nighttime routine includes the Brightening Multi-Vitamin Treatment, followed by Nangai oil and then the evening moisturizer. And then hopefully at least 4 hours of sleep haha.

In other news, I’ve kicked off my SeneBlends, that’s the SeneGence makeup artistry certification. I need to practice 58 different techniques on 58 different faces. 5 down, 53 to go and I’m excited! I’m having a lot of fun helping women look good and feel great and learning at the same time. So, if you’re in Melbourne, I may call on you for your beautiful face! I’m getting better at apply eyeliner but it still needs some work. Same goes for mascara; OMG that’s so hard to do!

I’ve realised that I need a proper, portable makeup chair or else my back will get angry. Thankfully, I have a great osteopath to keep me tuned up hehe

On a personal note, I’ve been looking at getting into powerlifting! I’m not one for a conventional gym (thanks anxiety!). I am predisposed to osteoporosis and need to build up my bone density and of course, get my strength back. I was considering pilates for a while but I need to build up my muscles again and lose inches while I’m at it. Wish me luck it happens and I stick to it!

The Skinny On Firmness

Back from a break on Phillip Island by the freezing cold sea with my family and my knittaz. No whales were spotted but good times had by all. Many carbs and coffees were consumed. Lots of knitting was done. I have carb regrets *pats belly*

As they say, find your tribe and love them hard!

I was asked by one of my lovely customers recently about which products are best for firming up the skin, thus inspiring me to write this post listing my top 3 firming products in the SeneGence range.

Evening Moisturizer: Because the evening moisturizers contain a higher concentration of the SenePlex Complex, this will help speed up the firmness and plumpness of your skin cells even faster. This also seals in the following treatments when you apply them to your face.

evening moisturizer

SeneSerum C: The C-Beads present a smoothing and anti-wrinkle effect to skin that consist of a more advanced and effective form of stabilized Vitamin C and made of elements which help to repair previous damage of cells. Therefore, the active vitamin C in the serum helps to stimulate collagen production and improve the skins firmness and elasticity.

seneserum c

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment: It contains ingredients that work to reduce light to medium wrinkle depth by an average of 34% to 63%. Wowsers! The Anti-Wrinkle Treatment is formulated with ingredients that reduce the intensity of wrinkle lines (and therefore the depth) while at the same time stimulate cell production and restore proper moisture content of cells to produce fuller, more plump cells in areas that are recessed. I really ought to get on to this because I needs it!

anti wrinkle

Bonus: Anything with the SenePlex Complex as it increases firmness and elasticity, an average of 51.9%. The more you layer the more you get the actives to work.

Therefore, more moisture means more firmness and plumper skin cells and more radiant skin and who doesn’t want that?!

Oh, So Glamorous!

This weekend, I held a Glamour Clinic for my customers/potential customers in my home.

It’s a great reason for me to tidy up my house! haha!

I had my whole (growing) kit laid out for them to check out and see what was new since my last clinic.

I colour-matched foundation, tinted moisturizers, recommended LipSense colours and did some make overs.

Basically, we sat around playing make up, ate cheese and drank prosecco.

Fun was had by all. I still need to practice applying eyeliner on others. I apparently really suck at it. Who knew it would be so hard?!

I’m in the beginning stages of starting my certification to become a makeup artist through SeneGence.

It’s scary and exciting all at once!

Preparation, procrastination, and more research. I am a master procrastinator. A procraftinator, if you will. I knit or watch make up tutorials (or sports) when I should be tidying/cleaning/washing/unf*^%$ing the house. But I digress.

As I’ve mentioned previously, I have anxiety and ADHD and it can sometimes makes things very overwhelming, hence my need to research and watch and learn all the things so I’m ready to go.

I’ve been researching, as I do, to upgrade my makeup brushes (very soon), which I’m sure I’ll review for y’all, to improve my skills in blending, blending and blending. Did I mention blending?

img_3512

Circling back to the Glamour Clinic, I’ll continue to run them, to learn as I go, to teach my customers/models about the products I’m using on them and the techniques I’m using so that they can go home and do it themselves.

Over the next 12 months I need to have completed 58 different techniques on 58 different faces! So, I’ll be calling on you local folk for your help!

Becoming a make up artist is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time but lay dormant in my subconscious for a couple of decades. Good lord, that makes me feel old, especially with my birthday this week! But I digress.

Finding your fire again is invigorating; I’m not just a stay at home mum. As my daughters like to call me, I’m ‘the makeup lady’. And I’m very happy with that.
