Kicking It Old School

It works. It actually, really works.

Shea Butter Body Cream

What am I talking about? Using Shea Butter Body Cream to remove makeup. Yes. It’s an old school method but it works!

I mentioned it previously how Joni, our founder and CEO, uses this method to remove her makeup. I was a little skeptical at first, especially about removing our very waterproof mascara. Boy, was I wrong!

It removes EVERYTHING. This is now my go to method of removing makeup. I need to invest in more wash cloths for wiping the cream off my face haha.

So, not only am I cleansing my face, I’m moisturising it and massaging it, too.

I place a hot, damp wash cloth on my face for a few seconds and then wipe gently. Rinse and repeat until the Shea Butter Body Cream has been removed.

My current nighttime routine includes the Brightening Multi-Vitamin Treatment, followed by Nangai oil and then the evening moisturizer. And then hopefully at least 4 hours of sleep haha.

In other news, I’ve kicked off my SeneBlends, that’s the SeneGence makeup artistry certification. I need to practice 58 different techniques on 58 different faces. 5 down, 53 to go and I’m excited! I’m having a lot of fun helping women look good and feel great and learning at the same time. So, if you’re in Melbourne, I may call on you for your beautiful face! I’m getting better at apply eyeliner but it still needs some work. Same goes for mascara; OMG that’s so hard to do!

I’ve realised that I need a proper, portable makeup chair or else my back will get angry. Thankfully, I have a great osteopath to keep me tuned up hehe

On a personal note, I’ve been looking at getting into powerlifting! I’m not one for a conventional gym (thanks anxiety!). I am predisposed to osteoporosis and need to build up my bone density and of course, get my strength back. I was considering pilates for a while but I need to build up my muscles again and lose inches while I’m at it. Wish me luck it happens and I stick to it!

Which guy? Nangai!

We’re into the second week of school holidays here and I’m going cuckoo bananas. The children and their never ending requests for food, the boredom, the fighting. This mama is over it! Thank goodness I have baseball to watch, my makeup to play with, and my never ending knitting keep me somewhat sane! But I digress.

Now, I’ve started using this gorgeous oil and let me tell you, it’s amazing. Liquid gold.

Sourced and grown sustainably on Vanuatu, this light and velvety nut oil is divine. It will help reduce the signs of ageing, making skin luminous, glowing, and deeply hydrated.

When I got it delivered it had solidified because winter. Once it came to room temperature, it was fine to open and use. You can also run the bottle under hot water to liquify the oil.

One oil, many uses:

  • Apply to your face before moisturizing for an extra boost of hydration, leaving you with a luminous glow. Also benefit from anti-aging properties and it’s quick absorbing and not greasy.
  • Apply to scars, burns and eczema to reduce inflammation and aids in speeding up the healing process.
  • Massage into your hair as a leave-in treatment on dry hair.
  • Apply to lips for a boost of moisture
  • Massage into cuticles at night to help nails grow.

So far I’ve done most of the above. My hair is smooth, my skin is softer and smoother and not the least bit greasy. And my lips and nails are beautifully hydrated overnight.

All you need are a few drops for your face or hair, a drop for your lips, and a few drops to cover both hands.

Another use is to apply to your face for a closer shave. Yes, I shave my face. But I’ll save that for another post!

SCIENCE! Nangai oil is rich in 94%-97% Triglycerides to protect the skin from water loss, enhancing your skin’s ability to retain moisture. It helps to prevent and correct dry skin and signs of ageing.

It’s a unique oil in that it does not require any chemical process to extract the triglycerides, unlike coconut oil.

Pure caprylic/capric triglycerides are naturally present in Nangai Oil, and do not require processing or manufacturing in order to create the purest, most beneficial product to moisturize your skin. I can confidently say that this oil is all natural.

If you’d like to know more about caprylic/capric triglycerides, let me know.

Some extra ingredients:

  • SenePlex Complex- Kinetic enzyme that increases cellular renewal.
  • Glucosamine HCL- enhances the body’s ability to manufacture collagen.
  • Algae (Seaweed) Extract- hydrates, protects skin from the sun, and softens the skin.

Small bottle, huge wonder.

The Skinny On Firmness

Back from a break on Phillip Island by the freezing cold sea with my family and my knittaz. No whales were spotted but good times had by all. Many carbs and coffees were consumed. Lots of knitting was done. I have carb regrets *pats belly*

As they say, find your tribe and love them hard!

I was asked by one of my lovely customers recently about which products are best for firming up the skin, thus inspiring me to write this post listing my top 3 firming products in the SeneGence range.

Evening Moisturizer: Because the evening moisturizers contain a higher concentration of the SenePlex Complex, this will help speed up the firmness and plumpness of your skin cells even faster. This also seals in the following treatments when you apply them to your face.

evening moisturizer

SeneSerum C: The C-Beads present a smoothing and anti-wrinkle effect to skin that consist of a more advanced and effective form of stabilized Vitamin C and made of elements which help to repair previous damage of cells. Therefore, the active vitamin C in the serum helps to stimulate collagen production and improve the skins firmness and elasticity.

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment: It contains ingredients that work to reduce light to medium wrinkle depth by an average of 34% to 63%. Wowsers! The Anti-Wrinkle Treatment is formulated with ingredients that reduce the intensity of wrinkle lines (and therefore the depth) while at the same time stimulate cell production and restore proper moisture content of cells to produce fuller, more plump cells in areas that are recessed. I really ought to get on to this because I needs it!

anti wrinkle

Bonus: Anything with the SenePlex Complex as it increases firmness and elasticity, an average of 51.9%. The more you layer the more you get the actives to work.

Therefore, more moisture means more firmness and plumper skin cells and more radiant skin and who doesn’t want that?!

Shea Butter Body Cream

I would complain about my day but I’ve managed and I had help to get things done. So instead, I am grateful.

My eldest kiddo has been sick all week and the doctor thinks it might be the flu now, on our second visit. Oh, joy. But we keep on going and do what needs to get done. And keep gulping all the coffee.

While I’ve had a moment to myself, I’ve been researching the Shea Butter Body Cream. And oh my god, I’m adding it to my next order!

You can use it from head to toe.

Shea Butter Body Cream

As a hair treatment – leave it in your hair and treat your scalp for 20 minutes before washing out.

Your best mani/pedi ever – soften and treat cuticles and nails, your hands and feet for the softest skin ever. For dry cracked heels (hello!), slather it on before bed and slip on your socks to protect your feet.

For the fellas – use for dry, rough elbows and knees and feet and anywhere else.

And the absolute favourite of our founder, Joni, is using it to remove make up at the end of the day. Yes! It sounds old school like a cold cream from back in the day. You massage a generous amount on to your face and eyes. It’ll even remove our waterproof LashSense! Then grab a warm washcloth and gently place it on your face for a moment and wipe off. Rinse and repeat until all colour has washed off the cloth and your face, of course.

And of course, all over your body!

SCIENCE! Some key ingredients that are in this Shea Butter you will not find anywhere else are:

  • SenePlex Complex: Kinetic Enzyme that Increases cellular renewal.
  • Shea Butter: to prevent moisture evaporation from the skin and provide lubrication to the skin’s surface.
  • Olive Fruit Oil: has a superior moisturizing effect on the upper layer of the skin and can aid in reducing scars.
  • Vitamin A: known for its cellular renewal properties that speed up exfoliation to reveal younger, plumper skin cells which produces new and healthy cells in the skin and the body.
  • Vitamin E: an essential antioxidant and neutralizer of free radicals.
  • Glucosamine HCL: enhances the body’s ability to manufacture collagen.
  • Panthenol: Vitamin B complex is essential for formation of new healthy tissues.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate: a ubiquitous carbohydrate polymer that is part of the extracellular matrix. It is a humectant about 100 times more effective as a humectant than Glycerin.

So, if you’re thinking of getting the Shea Butter Body Cream for whatever use you need it, you will not be sorry. I’m looking forward to trying it on my feet to be sandal ready for spring! And in my thick, crazy frizzy hair! And to remove my makeup! And all over!! Eeeeeeeee!!!

First Impressions

Today my Brightening Multi-Vitamin Treatment arrived and I went live on my Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/1920530031298362/ to give my first impressions of it.

brightening treatemtn vit c

I applied one pump of the treatment on to my clean, dry skin all over my face. You can use this as a spot treatment and use a tiny amount on each spot. As I have pigmentation, sun spots and acne scarring, I’m using it all over my face.

The Brightening Multi-Vitamin Treatment is absolutely delightful. It has a fresh, citrus scent and it feels positively silky on your skin. It’s silky and creamy in texture.

SCIENCE! You apply the treatment first before anything else as the molecules are tiny and need to penetrate your skin, deep into the layers. The molecules in our moisturizers are larger and seal in the treatments in your skin.

I took my before photo (more like mug shot) this morning after I washed my face. It’ll be interesting to see how my skin improves week to week. I’ll post an updated pic when I hit the 30 day mark, unless there’s some drastic change I have to share with y’all before then.
